The brainchild of Jeff’s middle child, Meaghan, the first annual SummersEnd Concert was met with such success that the bands and the concert goers pleaded with Meghan to do it again. This outdoor event lasted five years, until the Headliners became more successful and are unavailable due to tour schedules. SummersEnd brought together 8-10 “garage bands” who performed over a five-hour period, attracting about 500 people each year. Over the course of the last five years, Meaghan raised more than $20,000 for her dad’s foundation.
This year, former Abington Mariner reporter Max Bowen and host of “Citywide Blackout” radio show, is hosting a multi-band concert at All Asia in Cambridge from 3 p.m. to 10 pm on September 11. All profits from the $15 admission will benefit the Jeff Coombs Memorial Foundation. Thanks to Max for his thoughtfulness!
